Areal Flood Watch

Statement as of 2:58 AM EST on January 23, 2018

Expires 4:00 AM EST on January 24, 2018

... Flood Watch remains in effect from 10 am EST this morning
through late tonight...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of coastal downeast Maine, east central Maine,
eastern Maine, interior downeast Maine, and north central
Maine, including the following areas, in coastal downeast
Maine, coastal Hancock and coastal Washington. In east central
Maine, central Penobscot. In eastern Maine, northern
Washington. In interior downeast Maine, central Washington,
interior Hancock, and southern Penobscot. In north central
Maine, southern Piscataquis.

* From 10 am EST this morning through late tonight

* rainfall of up to 1.5 to 1.75 inches combined with snowmelt
may result in rises on area rivers. Ice jams remain frozen in
place from the previous thaw. The rain and snowmelt may cause
the ice jams to become displaced, and additional new ice jams
may form.

* Water levels can change abruptly when ice jams are occurring.
Remember to never drive through water covered roads.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop. Please report
any flooding to the National Weather Service.

Wind Advisory

Expires 11:00 PM EST on January 23, 2018

... Wind Advisory remains in effect from 11 am this morning to
11 PM EST this evening...

* winds... south 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Timing... this afternoon into this evening.

* Impacts... strong winds may blow down tree limbs and a few
trees. Scattered power outages are possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
