The Flood Warning continues for
the Penobscot river at Eddington
* until Friday evening... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 5:30 am this morning the stage was 16.9 feet
* minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by late this morning and continue
to rise to near 18.9 feet by this evening. The river will fall
below flood stage by Friday afternoon.
*Impacts... minor flooding along Route 2 can be expected.




528 am EDT Thu Apr 17 2014

The Flood Warning continues for
the Penobscot river at West Enfield
* until Friday evening... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 5:00 am this morning the stage was 18.5 feet
* minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 19.3 feet by this
evening. The river will fall below flood stage tomorrow early
afternoon.
* Impacts... flooding can be expected along Route 2 between Greenbush and Orono.




525 am EDT Thu Apr 17 2014

The Flood Warning continues for
the Mattawamkeag River at Mattawamkeag
* until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 5:00 am Thursday the stage was 15.5 feet
* moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 13.5 feet.
* Impacts... the Bancroft Road between Wytopitlock and Danforth remains flooded and
impassable.




503 am EDT Thu Apr 17 2014

... The Flood Warning remains in effect until 745 am EDT for urban
areas and small streams in northwestern Washington... northern
Penobscot and Piscataquis counties...

At 500 am EDT... law enforcement agencies still reported roads closed
in the warning area but stream and river levels are receding. Some
roads are being opened up again.

-Lakeview Road

In medford:
-Paddy Hill Road
-north Road Alder Brook

River Road in Willimantic

River Road in abbot

Lily Bay Road in Greenville

Bancroft Road in Reed Plantation

In addition... there are concerns regarding the Cold Stream dam near
Lincoln. Persons in and around this area... including along Stanhope
Mill Road... should remain alert for rapidly changing conditions. The
law enforcement are monitoring this situation closely.

Please remember... you should never cross a flooded Road. Obey all
Road closure signs and do not drive around or move barricades.
Persons are urged to stay away from all flooded rivers and streams.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central Maine... north central Maine...
northern Maine... southeast Maine and west central Maine...
including the following areas... in east central Maine...
central Penobscot... northern Penobscot and southern Penobscot.
In north central Maine... central Piscataquis... northern
Piscataquis and southern Piscataquis. In northern Maine...
northeast Aroostook... Northwest Aroostook and southeast
Aroostook. In southeast Maine... central Washington... coastal
Hancock... coastal Washington... interior Hancock and northern
Washington. In west central Maine... northern Somerset.

* Until 3 PM EDT this afternoon

* much colder and drier air has helped slow runoff and improve
conditions across the region. Many roads however remain closed
due to flooding.

* Ice continues to move on the Saint John river with much of river
now showing open water. There is still solid ice south of Van
Buren to Hamlin with some open water. At this time, river levels
continue to rise slowly. The Aroostook and Piscataquis rivers
are open with some ice flowing through and river levels running
high but now are receding.

* The Mattawamkeag and Penobscot rivers are still rising but
showing signs of slowing down due to the colder temperatures.

* The threat of flooding continues and flooding can rapidly
develop in the vicinity of ice jams. Those with interests along
rivers and streams should remain alert for ice jams and possible
flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
