1 miles ESE of Buckner, Oldham County.

Thunderstorm wind damage, reported by NWS storm survey.

Damage points initially were in three
            east/west oriented lines along borowick
Circle. The lines of damage as well as the
direction the trees fell would indicate
straight-lined winds. It appears much of the
wind must have stayed just off the surface,
thus affecting mainly the taller trees.

Public Information Statement

... NWS damage survey for 04/26/2016 thunderstorm wind event...

.Overview...
An otherwise weakening line of thunderstorms found renewed strength
as it passed north of the Louisville Metro. Some damage reports
occurred near the I-65 corridor in Austin, Clarksville, and Floyds
Knobs, where a few trees were damaged and a pole barn were destroyed.
Later windy conditions were called in by a retired National Weather
Service employee in Goshen, estimating gusts of 60 to 70 mph. This
part of the storm continued strengthening as it headed eastward,
causing more significant damage from east of Buckner to Ballardsville.
More isolated damage occurred downstream of this area, but this line
eventually caused some further wind damage in crop fields north of
Frankfort.

Survey summary:
enough reports of damage slowly trickled in over the days after this
line of storms moved through that an off-duty National Weather Service
meteorologist started going through neighborhoods near his home. Damage
points were in three areas around borowick Circle, southwest of La Grange
and just south of I-71 in central Oldham County. The lines of damage as
well as direction the trees fell would indicate straight-lined winds. It
appears much of the wind must have stayed just off the surface, thus
affecting mainly the taller trees.

Damage continued but was more sporadic on Maple Leaf Dr. Discussion with
residents indicated additional damage on new Moody Lane, north of elder
park Road, but this area was not surveyed in time before another line of
storms moved through this past Sunday. The storms continued gusting east
into the Clarke pointe subdivision, where one resident heard the wind
howling like she had never heard before. There were some trees down in
this area, but the more widespread damage was farther east, in the grand
Dell subdivision. Here several trees were felled, though again mostly
toward the east, and some properties were damaged. The survey ended in
this subdivision, though there were further reports of damage along Highway
22 near the Henry County border, which would line up well with the data
found in this survey.

Note: the information in this statement is preliminary and subject to
change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS
storm data.
