Areal Flood Warning

Statement as of 9:17 PM CDT on May 27, 2016

Expires 11:30 AM EDT on May 28, 2016

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 1030 am CDT Saturday for
southwestern Butler... northwestern Cowley... eastern Sedgwick and
northeastern Sumner counties...

Excessive runoff from earlier heavy rainfall will continue to cause
local rises on area creeks... small streams... and low lying areas in
the warned area through the overnight hours.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Wichita... Derby... Andover... Haysville... Augusta... Park city...
Valley Center... Bel Aire... Mulvane... Rose Hill... Maize... Douglass...
Sedgwick... Belle Plaine... Towanda... Benton... Udall...
downtown Wichita... Kechi and Eastborough.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
