The Flood Warning continues for
the Smoky Hill river near Mentor.
* From Saturday morning until Saturday evening.
* At 9:45 am Friday the stage was 11.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Saturday morning and continue
to rise to near 20.2 feet by Saturday morning. The river will fall
below flood stage by Saturday morning.
* Impact... at 20.0 feet... flood waters overflow the banks and
agricultural fields upstream from Bridgeport to Assaria. Lowland
flooding can be expected in the vicinity of the river. A portion of
the bike trail near Burke Park in Salina floods.

* From this afternoon until Saturday morning.
* At 9:30 am Friday the stage was 19.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 21.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by this afternoon and continue to
rise to near 21.2 feet by this afternoon. The river will fall below
flood stage by this evening.
* Impact... at 21.0 feet... South Bank overflows extend out to 20 feet
from bank. Old Mill Park floods along with low lying fields in
rural areas.

southeastern Saline County in central Kansas...
McPherson County in central Kansas...

* until 915 am CDT Saturday

* at 913 am CDT... emergency management reported flooding along
Gypsum Creek in Saline County and over numerous roads in
McPherson.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
McPherson... Lindsborg... Moundridge... Inman... Galva... Canton...
Marquette... Gypsum... Windom... New Cambria... Kipp...
McPherson Airport and Roxbury.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flooding is observed act quickly. Move up to
higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to
flooding when water begins rising.

* Soils are already saturated from recent rainfall over the past
several days with additional chances for thunderstorms expected
through tonight. Any additional rain may exacerbate ongoing
flooding concerns or lead to additional flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Remember to turn around... don't drown.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
