The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued an

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
northern La Salle County in north central Illinois...

* until 930 am CDT

* at 616 am CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
thunderstorms with heavy rainfall across the advisory area. Doppler
radar estimated up to two inches of rain has fallen over the last
hour... with up to an inch of additional rainfall possible over the
next couple of hours.

* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding to
occur... especially along small streams and near low water
crossings. Some locations that will experience minor flooding
include... Mendota... Earlville... Leland and Sheridan.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from this storm will cause elevated levels on small
creeks and streams... ponding of water on roads... urban areas...
highways... viaducts... underpasses and low lying areas.

Chicago and Rockford...

At Chicago... the average high temperature was 79.8 degrees which is
4.3 degrees below normal. The average low temperature was 60.9
degrees which is 3 degrees below normal. The average temperature for
the month was 70.4 degrees which is 3.6 degrees below normal. This
placed July 2014 as the 13th coldest July on record. 2.14 inches of
precipitation was recorded which is 1.56 inches below normal.

No records were set or tied at Chicago during July 2014.

At Rockford... the average high temperature was 79.2 degrees which
is 5.3 degrees below normal. The average low temperature was
59.1 degrees which is 3.9 degrees below normal. The average
temperature for the month was 69.1 degrees which is 4.7 degrees
below normal. This placed July 2014 as tied for the third coldest
July on record. The coldest July was in 2009 when the average
temperature was 67.0. 2.46 inches of precipitation was recorded
which is 1.49 inches below normal.

No records were set or tied at Rockford during July 2014.
