Winter Storm Watch

Statement as of 2:35 AM PST on February 27, 2015

... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Saturday afternoon
through Monday afternoon...

* locations... the mountains of Los Angeles... Ventura and Santa
Barbara counties.

* Hazard types... snow... blowing snow... lightning and poor
visibilities.

* Snow accumulations... 6 to 12 inches of snow could fall across
elevations above 5500 feet by Monday morning. Lesser
accumulations are possible above 4000 feet.

* Timing and snow levels... there is a chance of snow showers late
tonight... with a snow level of around 6500 feet. The chance of
snow showers will increase through the day Saturday as the snow
level lowers to between 4500 and 5000 feet. Snow showers will be
likely Saturday night and Sunday with snow levels lowering to
between 3500 and 4000 feet. Shower activity should start to
diminish late Sunday night into Monday... but there is a chance
that showers will persist into early Tuesday. There is a slight
chance of thunderstorms Saturday afternoon through Sunday
evening.

* Impacts... snow could affect travel on the Interstate 5 and
Highway 14 late Saturday night through Monday morning.

* Visibilities... snow... blowing snow and fog could restrict
visibilities to a quarter mile or less.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Check the latest Road reports before departing. Keep an emergency
kit in your vehicle which includes a flashlight... food and
water... extra clothes and blankets... and tire chains.

Wind Advisory

... Wind Advisory in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to 10 PM PST
this evening...

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a
Wind Advisory... which is in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to
10 PM PST this evening.

* Winds and timing... northwest to north winds 15 to 30 mph with
gusts between 35 and 45 mph... strongest in the mountains. Winds
will increase later this afternoon and persist through this
evening. Winds will decrease some by midnight. Winds are not
expected to turn to the northeast. Therefore... the hills around
Montecito should not experience stronger gusts.

* Impacts... major roadways that could be affected include highways
101... 154... and 192... especially near Gaviota... San Marcos Pass.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

When driving... use extra caution. Be prepared for sudden gusty
cross winds.
